Sales of $1-million-plus homes in Florida were up 440% last year compared to 2000. In the Pensacola metropolitan area, 66 homes last year sold for $1 million or more (with $5 million the top price), compared to five $1-million-plus sales in 1999 (topping at $1.2 million). According to Census Bureau data:
? In 2000, 253 owner-occupied homes in the two-county Pensacola market were valued at $1 million or more.
? In 1990, 129 homes were valued at $500,000 or more -- then the ceiling for such Census tabulations.
