› Kaseya abruptly cuts 150 staff in Miami and companywide
Kaseya, the IT management firm known for snagging the naming rights for the Miami Heat arena, fired about 150 employees last week. The terminations occurred at its Miami headquarters and other locations, Chief Communications Officer Xavier Gonzalez said. “These were absolutely not layoffs,” he added. “We had performance-based terminations.” The company intends to hire “more experienced” people to fill replace the employees who were let go, Gonzalez said.

› IQ Fiber's new fiber-optic internet service in Gainesville to go live later this month
A Jacksonville-based internet company that announced in September plans to bring its fiber-optic network to Gainesville is finally ready to flip the switch on its $50 million investment IQ Fiber co-founders Ted Schremp and Kim Smithers said that they are in the final stages of configuration and testing, and that the service will be turned on sometime this month.

› Virginia plant run by Sarasota company recognized for zero waste
A Sarasota-based tape and packaging company has earned recognition for achieving zero waste at one of its plants. Intertape Polymer Group was given the TRUE Zero Waste Certification by the Green Business Certification Inc. for work at its plant in Danville, Virginia. The Green Business Certification uses the Total Resource Use and Efficiency rating system to measure sustainable waste reduction practices.
