› St. Petersburg creates a new position: chief equity officer
St. Petersburg on Monday announced a new role at City Hall: chief equity officer. The job: Create and carry out policies and practices that put everyone on the same playing field, in and out of City Hall, and make sure equity and inclusion are baked into City government policies, procedures and practices. The goal is to work with the community to oversee and advance racial equity and inclusion within city government.

› United Arts of Central Florida surpasses $6 million fundraising goal
United Arts of Central Florida surpassed its goal of raising $6 million for local arts, science and history organizations in its annual Campaign for the Arts, which ended April 30. The largest fundraiser for the region’s cultural groups, which runs for three months each spring, provides operational and programming funds for dozens of organizations, as well as grants for individual artists.

› Walmart-owned Sam’s Club fits the description of Project Crystal
While Jacksonville is dealing with a code name for Project Crystal, the description of the deal it matches Sam’s Club, the wholesale membership club division of global merchandiser Walmart Inc. The city proposes a five-year $1.5 million Recapture Enhanced Value Grant based on 50% of the increase and real and tangible property taxes for the project.

› Disney World is making changes to its park reservation rules
Walt Disney World, which has stood alone among Florida’s theme parks in keeping many of its pandemic-era restrictions, on Monday announced it will be relaxing some of its rules on advanced park reservations. Plus, it’s bringing back the popular Disney dining plans and is working on a way to simplify its new fast pass system known as Genie+.
