› Prominent construction firm launches new career track for veterans
Robins & Morton, a Birmingham, Alabama-based construction company that has an office in Tampa and is responsible for many significant projects in the Tampa Bay region, has again gotten creative in its efforts to unearth new talent. In a news release, the firm says it has created a new construction engineer career track that, like its construction coordinator role, will be specifically for U.S. military veterans.
› FSU receives most 2022 Florida TaxWatch Awards of any state university
Florida State University employees representing teams, centers, offices and departments throughout the university this year claimed 18 Florida TaxWatch Productivity Awards, the most by any institution in the State University System. The Florida TaxWatch Productivity Awards recognize and reward state employees and workgroups who find ways to improve services, increase efficiencies and save Florida taxpayers millions of dollars each year.

Orlando's Downtown Development District and community redevelopment agency are creating a strategy to draw more visitors and businesses to the urban core. The city already is starting early work on its DTO 2.0 plan, which includes improvements to streetscapes, transportation and civic spaces like parks, as part of its priorities.
› Clearwater’s AmeriLife acquires Minnesota insurance products distributor
AmeriLife, a Clearwater company that develops and distributes life and health insurance and other financial planning services, has acquired a Minnesota-based distributor of insurance products. The company announced Monday that it has purchased TruChoice Financial Group and its affiliate Inforce Solutions from Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, headquartered in Minneapolis. The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, is expected to close by the end of November.
