› Safaritopia buys Westside headquarters
Educational toy manufacturer and distributor Safari Programs Inc., through an associated company, paid $8.75 million June 25 to buy the Westside Industrial Park warehouse it has been leasing. Safaritopia LLC bought the 130,688-square-foot building on 7.15 acres, plus some vacant land, at 8010 Westside Industrial Drive.

› Alex Rodriguez part of investor group that just bought a South Beach hotel
A group of investors featuring Alex Rodriguez as a partner has purchased its first South Beach hotel. CGI Merchant Group, a global investment management firm based in Miami and focused on real estate and private equity, announced Wednesday it had purchased The Celino South Beach. Located at 640 Ocean Drive, the Celino, originally built in 1937, will reopen in fall 2021.

›Gainesville might become first Florida city to sue governor, state attorney over ‘anti-riot’ law
The Gainesville City Commission will vote Thursday on whether or not to authorize the city to sue Gov. Ron DeSantis and State Attorney General Ashley Moody over HB 1. DeSantis signed “The Combating Violence, Disorder, and Looting and Law Enforcement Protection Act” into law on April 19, calling it the “strongest anti-rioting, pro-law enforcement piece of legislation in the country.”

› Construction begins on Tampa condo tower near Bayshore Boulevard
Bayshore Boulevard could soon see another high-rise building on its growing waterfront skyline in South Tampa. Construction has kicked off on Altura Bayshore, a 23-story luxury condo tower on 2907 S. Ysabella Ave., the developers behind the project announced Wednesday.
