» BankAtlantic hired Doug Freeman as chief corporate banking executive. Freeman was chairman and CEO of NetBank.

» HCA named Michael G. Joseph, former chief executive of University Hospital in Tamarac, president of its east Florida division.

» Anthony Alfonso, former CEO of Nutri-Force, has been named CEO of FDC Vitamins following the merger of the two companies. Juan F. Rodriguez, formerly senior vice president and controller of Kos Pharmaceuticals, has been named COO of the new FDC management team.

» The University of Miami has named James M. Tien, a professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, dean of UM’s College of Engineering. Tien replaces M. Lewis Temares.
