Florida's Fallen Soldiers

These 37 armed forces personnel from Florida died while serving the country in 2011.

This year's Floridian of the Year issue includes 37 armed services personnel from Florida — four women and 33 men — who died while serving the country. The list includes five who died in 2010 after our 2010 publication went to press. They came from 27 cities. All but two died fighting the war in Afghanistan — Army Spc. Marcos A. Cintron and Army Sgt. Andy Morales died on duty in Iraq. In chronological order based on when they died, here are Florida's war dead.
