Florida dethroned as best place to retire

Iowa has been ranked as the best state to retire due to its reasonable cost of living, affordable but high-quality healthcare, and low crime levels. The Hawkeye state overtook historic retirement paradise Florida which came out top last year, according to Bankrate's annual retirement study. Sea turtle nesting season is breaking records this year, What to do if you find a nest

Florida’s 2023 turtle nesting season, which runs from March through October, is only halfway through and has already reached record-breaking numbers for sea turtle nests in Palm Beach County and at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. On Thursday, July 27, Disney World announced that it recorded more than 2,000 sea turtle nests at its Vero Beach Resort, which is well above the average 1,500 nests Disney’s Conservation Team normally sees in one full nesting season. Orlando Health, UnitedHealthcare reach coverage deal before deadline

Orlando Health and UnitedHealthcare have reached a deal on coverage of in-network care. The nonprofit health system announced it had reached a deal preventing more than 70,000 members in the area on employer-sponsored, individual, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans of UnitedHealthcare from falling out of network. Negotiations came up until very close to the end of July when there would have been no coverage for most non-emergency care, with the deal being announced the morning of Aug. 1. Naples real estate firm tops $2.5 billion in sales

With five full months to go before 2023 ends, one Naples real estate firm has already topped $2 billion in sales for the year. And that’s before July even began. John R. Wood Christie’s International Real Estate says that through the end of June it has closed 3,207 deals with a sales volume of $2.557 billion. The firm says the Southwest Florida Multiple Listing Service shows its nearest competitor dollar wise is $687 million behind it and that its nearest competitor in the number of closed deals is 570 transactions behind. L3Harris completes $4.7B deal for rocket-engine maker Aerojet, which will be based in Palm Bay

L3Harris Technologies Inc. has completed its $4.7 billion acquisition of rocket-engine maker Aerojet Rocketdyne, and says it will move the operation's headquarters to Palm Bay. The deal â?• first announced last December â?• closed on Friday, after it received clearance from the Federal Trade Commission, which was looking into whether the acquisition posed any antitrust concerns.
