› Moody calls on Zuckerberg to respond to 'stunning' number of Florida human trafficking cases on Meta platforms
Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody on Monday called on Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to appear before the Statewide Council on Human Trafficking to account for how Meta is being used to facilitate human trafficking and sex exploitation. Moody did so while announcing what she described as the “stunning” and “disturbing” findings of a statewide investigation that found that Meta platforms are being used more than any other social media platforms by human traffickers to commit crimes.

Building anything is not easy, especially in Miami, where the weather threatens and the permits tend to languish. But building a brewery on the third floor of a historic building is a special sort of ambitious. Some might even call it crazy. But as it turns out, Jose Mallea and Nick Bonfiglio, the founders of Biscayne Bay Brewing, did it anyway, and their new brewery and taproom is now open in the former U.S. Post Office building in downtown Miami.

› Federal court to take up case of Florida law that bans selling long guns to people under 21
A full federal appeals court said Friday it will take up a legal battle over a 2018 Florida law that bars sales of rifles and other long guns to people under 21. The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals vacated a March decision by a three-judge panel that upheld the constitutionality of the law. The Atlanta-based court said the case will be “reheard en banc,” meaning by the full court.

› Environmental Conservancy of North Port targets parcels for Florida Scrub-Jay habitat
The Environmental Conservancy of North Port faces an Aug. 17 deadline to raise funds to purchase a half-acre in the Meroni Paradise neighborhood of North Port as habitat for Florida Scrub-Jays and other wildlife, including Gopher Tortoises. The current funding goal is a combined $24,000 â?• or $12,000 per lot â?• for adjacent parcels on Minardi Street and Jayman Road.
