Two disturbances, two named storms make for active end of hurricane season

Less than a month remains until the end of the hurricane season, yet the tropics are still lighting up. Two named storms and two disturbances have made for a busy end of the season. Tropical Storm Lisa made landfall in Belize Wednesday as a hurricane, Hurricane Martin is strengthening in the north Atlantic and two disturbances off the east coast of the United States are brewing. None of the systems currently pose a threat to Florida. More from the Tampa Bay Timesand the Orlando Sentinel.

The Space Coast's launch cadence over the last few months all but guarantees the Cape and KSC will hit the highly coveted 50-launches-a-year milestone, a goal that's been decades in the making. Tampa couple share their path to podcasting success

If it seems like everyone has a podcast, there’s a good reason for that perception — it’s because the medium can make you a lot of money, and the barrier to entry is low. So, what’s the catch? Chris Krimitsos, a Tampa entrepreneur who created Podfest Expo — an annual networking and professional development event, usually held in Orlando, for podcasters worldwide — the keys to podcasting success are patience, focus and passion; it’s anything but a get-rich-quick scheme. But with the right approach, he says, it’s possible to earn a six-figure income without having millions of listeners.

Out of the Box
This lovable golf-course pup plays a priceless role at South Florida club

Because golf is mostly mental, it’s hard to imagine how the staff and membership at Fiddlesticks Country Club in Fort Myers would manage if a regular named Ruby weren’t around. Ruby is not a sports psychologist. She can’t help with chip yips, knows nothing of swing thoughts. She’s clueless on course strategy and pre-shot routines. But what Ruby lacks in stroke-saving savvy she makes up for with traits that don’t show up on the scorecard. She’s kind-hearted and playful, a faithful companion with a can-do spirit and an uplifting presence to everyone she meets.
