Sumter County gains population

Sumter County was the fastest-growing county in Florida in percentage terms from mid-2010 to mid-2011, according to the latest U.S. Census estimates.

Growth at central Florida counties:

  • Sumnter -- 3.6%
  • Osceola -- 2.4
  • Orange -- 1.8
  • Flagler -- 1.4
  • Lake -- 1.1
  • Seminole -- 0.4
