› Hillsborough County, foundation launch $5M fund to assist nonprofits
Hillsborough County and the Community Foundation of Tampa have established a $5 million fund to assist local nonprofit organizations that have been providing essential “safety net” services to residents during the COVID-19 crisis. Such nonprofits, according to a news release, have dealt with revenue losses and unplanned costs during the pandemic.

As the once trendsetting Searstown shopping center did for Lakeland decades ago, a new concept in retail design has been proposed for the Midtown property. Planning consultant Thuy Turner says the new owners hope the Lakeland project builds on the successful project the owners completed in Bradenton.
› Fuddruckers closes all Central Florida locations, no reason given
Fuddruckers abruptly closed its two Central Florida locations on Monday. The company announced the closures in a Facebook post with the headline “All our Orlando’s (sic) restaurants have closed.” Prior to this, the last social media post from the fast-casual chain’s location at 4311 E. Colonial Drive was on Jan. 31.

The saga of Marina Jack and its decades-long lease of city property appears to be in for another chapter after a letter from Sarasota Mayor Erik Arroyo asserted the deal needs to be "more equitable" for taxpayers. Marina Jack is the most iconic waterfront destination in downtown Sarasota, boasting a high-quality restaurant, hundreds of boat slips at a marina and gorgeous views of Sarasota Bay for both visitors and restaurant customers. However, the company does not own the land.
