Florida unemployment claims continue to fall

First-time jobless claims continued to slow last week in Florida, while efforts are underway to bulk up the state’s unemployment agency and key parts of the economy still struggle amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The U.S. Department of Labor estimated Thursday that 28,128 new claims came in last week to Florida, part of 709,000 first-time claims nationally during the week that ended Nov. 7. Florida lottery reaches $38B in education contributions

The Florida Lottery reached another milestone. The agency said it has provided more than $38 billion to help students succeed in schools across Florida. And over the past 32 years, public schools have received more than $20 billion, colleges and universities more than $9.9 billion, and the Bright Futures Scholarship Program more than $6.8 billion. Verano buys AltMed to create largest private cannabis company

Verano Holdings, LLC is buying and merging with Alternative Medical Enterprises, LLC, Plants of Ruskin, LLC, called AltMed to create the largest privately-owned cannabis company. The value of the transaction was not disclosed. More from the Green Market Report.
