Florida arts and culture industry grows by $1.58 billion

According to Americans for the Arts, a national nonprofit promoting the arts, Florida's nonprofit arts and culture industry generated $4.68 billion in economic activity in 2015. Tropical storm effects felt in Florida

The National Hurricane Center is juggling a rare June double threat in the tropics as the 2017 storm season gets off to a swift start that could send torrential rains into Gulf Coast states. Tropical Storm Bret is moving into the southeastern Caribbean Sea, with max. sustained winds on 45 MPH. Potential tropical cyclone "three" is gradually becoming better organized over the central Gulf of Mexico. Tropical storm warnings have been issued for Louisiana. Visit Florida explains changes to local tourism groups

Visit Florida is sending a message to the state’s local tourism-marketing organizations when it comes to the financial disclosure rules that are intended to make public tax dollars more transparent: Call your attorney. Agency spokesman Stephen Lawson said local organizations that receive 50 percent or more of revenue from bed taxes, and also rely on Visit Florida for marketing, will be required to disclose how much they pay their board of directors.
