House plan would give governor $85 million jobs fund with few strings attached

After spending the session peeling back what they deemed was taxpayer-financed “corporate welfare” in the name of jobs, the Florida House returns this week with a plan to replace those programs with a new $85 million economic development fund that gives Gov. The sugar industry has been at the center of the most contentious trade issues between Mexico and the United States. Tampa General Hospital names new CEO

John Couris will become president and chief executive officer of Tampa General Sept. 1, 2017. Tampa General Hospital (TGH) is one of the largest hospitals in Florida, with 1,011 beds and with 7,300 employees. Since 2010, Couris has been president and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center, a 327-bed not-for-profit hospital in Jupiter. He previously worked for the BayCare system. See the full news release, here. › Tampa commercial real estate services firm expands
Stewart Title Co. opened a commercial services center in Tampa. The Tampa office will be the regional headquarters for all commercial services operations in Florida, including Orlando, Jacksonville, Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

› CSX shareholders vote to pay $84 million related to CEO hire
Jacksonville-based CSX says its shareholders have approved an $84 million payment related to the hiring of CEO E. Hunter Harrison. Harrison was hired as CEO of the railroad company three months ago and had said he would resign if the payment wasn't approved.
