Florida consumer confidence tumbles to lowest point of the year

Consumer sentiment among Floridians plummeted 4.8 points in August to 88.2, according to the latest University of Florida consumer survey. This is the lowest reading in the last year, and all five components that make up the index declined. More at Florida Trend and the Tampa Bay Times.

Florida leaders’ calls for crackdown on public corruption go unheeded

For years, a small group of top Florida political leaders quietly prodded the federal government to be more aggressive in rooting out political corruption in the state capital. UCF delays downtown campus by a year

UCF has decided to delay opening its downtown Orlando campus to August 2019 — a year later than planned, the school reported Thursday. The decision was made to avoid opening the campus in the middle of an academic year, officials said. More from the Orlando Sentinel.
