› New Florida law aims to prevent derelict vessels; removal can be pricey
A new state law promises to make it easier for city and county authorities as well as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to intervene more decisively before a vessel becomes derelict.

› Report: Half of Florida lakes have elevated algae
The report from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection shows a mixed bag for the state’s waters, with many trending toward more-frequent toxic algae blooms, fueled by rising nitrates from farm and residential fertilizers, sewage, pet waste and other human-related sources.

› Allegiant Air breaks ground on major $24M training center near Sanford airport
Allegiant Air broke ground last week on a $24 million facility adjacent to Orlando Sanford International Airport where it will train pilots, mechanics and flight attendants based on the East Coast.
