First U.S. outbreak of locally transmitted Zika virus confirmed in Florida

Four individuals in Miami-Dade and Broward counties have been infected with the Zika virus by local mosquitoes, Florida health officials said Friday. These are the first known cases of the virus being transmitted by mosquitoes in the continental United States. Gov. Scott said, "Now that Florida has become the first state to have a local transmission, likely through a mosquito, we will continue to put every resource available to fighting the spread of Zika in our state." Florida consumer sentiment up in July, reversing a three-month slide

Consumer sentiment among Floridians increased in July to 93.7. This reading is four points higher than June’s revised figure of 89.7, turning upward after three straight months of declines and marking the second-highest reading over the past year. Perception of one’s personal financial situation now compared with a year ago increased three points, from 83.5 to 86.5.
