By mathematically modeling cancer, researchers think they could predict how to outmaneuver the disease's ability to become resistant to medications. Patients could one day get personalized models — sort of like their own hurricane track models — that predict how their cancer might react to a particular dosage or sequence of existing drugs.

Florida to increase minimum wage Thursday

On New Year's Day, Florida's minimum wage will increase by 12 cents to $8.05 per hour, benefiting an estimated 364,000 low-wage workers in the state. The minimum wage for tipped workers in Florida will rise by 12 cents to $5.03 per hour. More at PNJ.com.
