State university presidents’ five-year contracts typically include health and life insurance, state employee retirement plan contributions, travel expenses for spouses outside university service areas and a paid sabbatical if they resign from the presidency and remain at the school.

Other compensation: Deferred compensation of $75,000 a year
Other benefits: Required to live in president’s house; $10,500 car allowance; tenured professorship

Base salary: $470,000
Bonuses: Performance stipend of up to $175,000
Other compensation: Deferred compensation of 12% of base salary
Other benefits: Retention stipend at rate of $100,000 annually upon completion of contract (2016); car; membership in Tampa Palms Country Club and University Club; tenured professorship; required to live in president’s house

Bonuses: Undefined lump sum incentive at board’s discretion
Other compensation: Deferred compensation at 20% of base salary

Bonuses: $100,000 for each $100 million raised during fundraising campaign

Bonuses: Up to $60,000 based on performance each year; retention bonus that accumulates at $50,000 annually paid in lump sum of $250,000 after completing five years at the university
