Florida unemployment plunges to 8.1 percent

Florida's unemployment rate dropped substantially from 8.5 percent to 8.1 percent in November, tying the biggest one-month plunge in 20 years. A year ago, the jobless rate stood at 10.1 percent. The state added 24,500 jobs this past month and is now up 83,300 jobs compared to November 2011. [Source: Tampa Bay Times]

Office Depot to sell Hungary unit to capital fund

Office Depot will sell its Hungary business to Central Fund Venture Capital Fund. The transaction also includes an agreement for Central Fund to use Office Depot's trade names, obtain sourcing services and continue to support Office Depot's customers in Hungary. Florida high school grades show improvement for 2012

The Florida Department of Education on Friday released school grades for the state's 491 traditional high schools, showing a statewide trend of improvement. Nearly half of the state's traditional high schools earned A grades for 2012, up 16 percentage points from last year. [Source: Orlando Sentinel]
