Amos Rojas, Jr. was recently appointed as the City Manager for the City of Coral Gables. In this role, he oversees a municipal government of more than 51,000 residents and 1,100 employees. Rojas, Jr. manages an operating budget of $195 million and a five-year capital plan of $220 million. As the city's top administrator, he reports to the Mayor and four City Commissioners. Read more »

City of Port St. Lucie Building Department , City of Port St. Lucie, Florida

On March 12, 2018 the City of Port St. Lucie City Council approved the third request to reduce building permit fees based on lower cost for the administration of online building permits. In 2013, the City launched new software called PANDA. This software was developed and owned by the City allowing changes to be made instantly, at no cost. As Contractor usage of the online system increases, the staff time previously consumed with permit processing, decreases. The Building Department has asked City Council to allow us to pass along these savings to our customers. Currently 27% of all building permits are obtained online and more permit fee reductions are expected as additional permit types are added to the program. Read more »

In an effort to establish an on-going collaborative relationship with Real Estate Professionals in the community, the City of Port St. Lucie's Building Department created the Realtor Assist Program. In this program, Real Estate Professionals are invited to learn about the services provided by the Building Department and to inform Realtors of relevant Rules and Regulations, changes to Local Ordinances, and Building Codes. In addition, the sessions are meant to help Realtors identify Red Flags which may identify work that has been done without a permit, and other violations. With this program the Building Department has successfully trained over 1,400 Real Estate Professionals, the next scheduled class will be held in February 2018. Read more »
