“You have breast cancer.” Few words are more devastating — for women and men alike (men get breast cancer too). Treatment brings grueling physical battles, with an emotional toll that can leave even the strongest feeling overwhelmed and isolated. Since 1993, the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation (FBCF) has been a steadfast source of hope for those navigating this journey — tirelessly advocating for patients, advancing groundbreaking research, expanding education and providing critical support when it’s needed most.
Enduring Dedication
Founded by three Miami women, FBCF has served Floridians impacted by breast cancer for more than 30 years and committed to ending the disease through research, education and advocacy. Today, the organization provides patient support through its nonprofit direct services grants and monthly virtual support group. With offices in South and Central Florida, FBCF’s small but dedicated staff, alongside board members, volunteers, and supporters, extend their reach across the Sunshine State.
Driving Impact: End Breast Cancer License Plate
In 2002, FBCF and the State of Florida launched the End Breast Cancer specialty license plate, to support two of the foundation’s core pillars. For each $30 plate purchased or renewed, $25 goes directly to FBCF to support research and education programs in Florida. Every October, the foundation pertners with Tax Collector offices in nearly all 67 Florida counties to boost sales and raise awareness. Each plate drives research, educates communities and visibly honors those impacted by breast cancer.
Powered by Compassion & Generosity
October ignites a movement of hope as communities and corporations join forces with FBCF to turn generosity into impact. Sharing FBCF’s vision of ending breast cancer, state-wide partners such as Ed Morse Automotive, Kendra Scott, and Del Webb Communities and countless others provide critical support, accelerating FBCF’s vision of a future without breast cancer.
30+ Years of Progress
To date, FBCF has funded:
- $11 million in innovative research grants.
- $2 million in direct service grants for 3D mammograms, living expenses, and medical items.
- $1.5 million in education programs.
All this while maintaining a coveted 4-Star Rating from the national ranking agency Charity Navigator, reflecting the organization’s commitment to transparency and ensuring that every dollar maximizes impact.
A Vision for the Future
Breast cancer touches far too many lives — one in eight women will be diagnosed in their lifetime, and men also face risk. FBCF remains dedicated to fighting for every patient, supporting every survivor and continuing to drive progress toward a future without breast cancer.
As the foundation looks ahead, one thing remains constant: together — with community, compassion, and action — we can end breast cancer once and for all.
