A rundown of ideas Florida lawmakers have so far to cut property taxes
The window for Florida lawmakers to meaningfully debate cutting property taxes gets smaller with each passing day. Monday marks day 21 of 60 in the legislative session, and there is still no policy discussion between the two legislative chambers on Republicans’ best effort to make Florida more affordable ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. And while Gov. Ron DeSantis has been calling for a repeal of property taxes for roughly a year, he has yet to produce any proposals. [Source: Tampa Bay Times]

The real estate frenzy spurred by the coronavirus pandemic continues, though at a slower pace. Buyers are still competing for a limited supply of housing, driving up prices for affordable properties. › Top deals reshape Southwest real estate market in 2025
Southwest Florida’s real estate market in 2025 reflects Sir Isaac Newton’s Third Law of Motion: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. In residential real estate last year, home sales were flat year over year. Sales volume slowed over the past two years, compared to the two years immediately after COVID-19.
