Florida Trend | Florida's Business Authority

65 years and counting

(Florida Trend)

As the end of the year approaches, I like to look back at the past 12 issues of FLORIDA TREND. It gives me a great sense of gratitude and appreciation for our entire staff and the work that they accomplish. Every department — from editorial, art, administration, circulation, marketing, production, digital publishing and advertising — plays a critical role in keeping FLORIDA TREND moving in the right direction.

Next year, the company will celebrate its 65th anniversary. FLORIDA TREND is the longest running monthly business publication in the state. Not many magazines make it to their 65th birthday. Heck, not many companies — period — make it that long!

FLORIDA TREND succeeds because it understands the needs of our readers and the marketplace. Our editorial integrity is crucial to our mission: Being Florida’s Business Authority by keeping you abreast of the most important business news from around the state.

Today, our company is so much more than just the monthly magazine, which Harris Mullen founded in 1958. Our business now includes four annuals: Florida Small Business; NEXT, which targets high schoolers; Business Florida, the state’s economic development recruitment guide; and Florida 500, a publication of Florida’s most influential business leaders.

Additionally, each year we produce at least five regional economic profiles showcasing Florida’s diverse business communities. Digitally, we have a robust website — FloridaTrend.com — that garners nearly 1 million page views and more than 150,000 unique visitors each month. We produce daily morning and afternoon eNews alerts highlighting the top Florida business news, and we produce weekly eNewsletters focused on health care, education, real estate and executives on the rise (Movers & Influencers). Taken together, we deliver nearly 3 million digital news alerts to a 100% subscriber-based audience.

On top of all that, every Friday morning we produce the Florida Trend Business Beat, a video newscast that delivers the week’s top business news.

While our business has evolved, it was Mullen who established the guiding principles that allowed my immediate predecessors and I to help drive FLORIDA TREND’S success. And 65 years later, I am proud to represent the brand that Florida business executives trust, respect and rely on.

Our company looks forward to continuing to evolve to serve your needs. I hope that 2022 brought you much success and good health and that 2023 does the same. Best wishes during this holiday season!
