Making the grade: The latest Florida bar exam results are in

For the second year in a row, less than half of those who took Florida's online-only bar exam now can move on to become attorneys, according to results released Monday by the Florida Board of Bar Examiners. Of the 3,343 who sat for the July 27-28 test, 1,483 people passed — or 44.4%. That's down from 47.4% passing who took last year's summer exam, which was postponed to October because of the coronavirus pandemic. But counting only those taking the exam for the first time, nearly 72 percent passed. More from the Tallahassee Democrat.

Senate kicks off redistricting process

Senate Reapportionment Chairman Ray Rodrigues said Monday he wants the Florida Legislature to avoid the “shadow process” that occurred in 2012 when lawmakers drew new political district lines that were rejected by the Florida Supreme Court. The Estero Republican said changes have been implemented to avoid another battle with the court and that the public will be able to provide input on how congressional and legislative lines should be shifted. The Manhattan-based financial adviser firm Legend Advance Funding and the Madrid-based renewable energy investment company Matrix Renewables signed office leases in Brickell, according to Colliers Director Tyler de la Peña.
