U.N. panel casts doubt on dire hurricane season storm warnings

Hurricane season inevitably brings speculation on whether climate change is making the storm season worse. Different scientists and studies have different views. News coverage gravitates toward the most dire. Boston-based risk modeling firm AIR Worldwide made headlines earlier this year in the insurance industry press with a report forecasting higher U.S. property losses from hurricanes because of climate change.
It’s understandable to see a connection. Atlantic hurricane activity is up since 1970. Last year’s record setting season saw 30 named storms.
