"Eating boiled peanuts does something to your demeanor where I don't think you can get mad at anything."

A Jacksonville veteran has elevated boiled peanuts from a humble roadside snack to gourmet fare featured at a newly opened restaurant showcasing Cajun-Asian fusion cuisine.

Randeez Nutz, aka self-taught boiled peanut chef, connoisseur and entrepreneur Randy Waters, doesn't hesitate when asked the secret to the success of his popular roadside stand in northern St. Johns County.

"Badass boiled peanuts," he replied with a good-natured laugh.

His gourmet legumes have garnered loyal customers throughout Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. Some regularly drove up to 50 miles on a weekend day for a cup packed to the brim with Randeez Nutz.
