What would happen if measles vaccination rates fell in Florida? Earlier this year, Karen D. Liller, a professor at the USF College of Public Health in Tampa, was in a meeting when the conversation turned to measles, a problem she assumed had been solved long ago.

“In 2000, we essentially eradicated measles,” Liller says. “Now, we’re at over 1,000 cases in the United States. It should be zero. The upsetting thing for us in public health is this shouldn’t be happening.”
