I am often asked my thoughts on the future of the media industry. I tell people that every industry has its challenges. It is not so much what is happening in a particular industry that really matters as much as it is about what we are doing to impact the one that we are in.
The media industry has had to reinvent itself over the years — not unlike other industries. Reinvention, I believe, should start with customer service. How are you engaging with your customers? Are you listening to their needs? Are you providing the products and services that they find valuable?
Florida Trend has positioned itself successfully in the market for more than 60 years. Its success stems from strong customer service and staying true to our core mission — providing relevant, unbiased content at the highest levels of editorial integrity. By providing this level of service, we are helping our readers succeed.
Staying true to that core mission, while realizing we need to constantly evolve, is what makes our work challenging and exciting. Our team is focused on the needs of our readers and dialed into the trends that are happening throughout our industry. This is why Florida Trend looks and feels a bit different than it did even a few years ago.
I like to say we are no longer a publishing company; we are a media company. We communicate, engage and interact with you, our readers, the way you want to absorb our content. To help you succeed, we have made it our mission to deliver to you the most relevant news and information the way you want to receive it.
At your request, today Florida Trend delivers its content across many platforms. Our 12 monthly print issues are delivered to more than 250,000 readers each month. Each print issue is reproduced for our digital subscribers. We also have a strong social media audience that likes our content delivered across different social platforms.
In addition to our monthly issue, we produce four annual magazines and websites:
FloridaTrend.com is a dominant digital force. Our site draws nearly a million page views a month and more than 160,000 unique visitors. We have daily morning and afternoon late-breaking news alerts delivered to nearly 48,000 subscribers. We also have five weekly eNewsletters (Small Business; Health Care; Education; Real Estate; and Movers & Influencers) each delivered to a subscriber audience of nearly 20,000. All together, we deliver more than 3.5 million news alerts to our digital subscribers each month.
As part of staying current and in touch with the business community, the editorial staff and I meet several times a month with executives across the state to discuss business trends, economic drivers and industry news that we need to keep our eyes on.
