DAYTONA BEACH
ARK Daytona of St. Charles, Ill., plans to start construction early next year on a 50,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing plant for Toyota and Honda auto parts. The facility in Gateway Business Park South is expected to employ more than 35 skilled workers.
? At Daytona Beach Community College, Orlando-based FLA/Florida Architects has started construction on the Mori Hosseini Center, a $22-million, 60,000-sq.-ft. facility that will house the school's hospitality, tourism and culinary programs and its Southeast Museum of Photography. Completion is scheduled for fall 2007.

MELBOURNE
Harris Corp. (NYSEHRS) has been awarded several contracts recently to supply various models of its Falcon II radios to the military, including two agreements for $130 million and $46 million for the Army and a third for $1.9 million for the Navy.

ORLANDO
Developers George Kalivretenos and Barry Greer have opened the 227-room Lexington at Orlando CityPlace hotel on Colonial Drive at Interstate 4 on the site of the former Holiday Inn.
? Baker Barrios Architects and Lincoln Property Co. have started construction on the 32-story Dynetech Centre at Washington Street and Magnolia Avenue, formerly the site of a two-story parking garage. Besides serving as a headquarters for technology company Dynetech and its 600 employees, the $60-million project includes 164 apartments, parking, and restaurant and retail space. Completion is scheduled for late 2007.
? Fort Lauderdale-based BankAtlantic, which opened a training center and a sales and customer service operation in central Florida earlier this year, plans to expand its presence in 2007. The bank will open three branches in Orlando and one in Kissimmee in January as part of a plan to create more than 20 central Florida locations and as many as 400 new jobs in the next several years.
? Bear Growth Capital Partners, an affiliate of Bear Stearns & Co., has acquired swimwear company Water Water Everywhere and will merge it with Orlando-based Everything But Water, which is already part of the Bear Growth portfolio. Terms of the acquisition were not announced.
? Masscal Scientific Instruments, which manufactures research laboratory equipment, has moved its headquarters to the University of Central Florida Technology Incubator at Central Florida Research Park. The company serves as the operating division of 6-year-old Masscal Corp. of Chatham, Mass., handling business, technical and manufacturing operations. Plans call for hiring at least six new chemists, engineers and manufacturing technicians.
? Orlando Airport Marriott plans to unveil a $12.5-million renovation next month.
? A University of Central Florida research team has taken a significant step toward manufacturing the next generation of computer chips. Led by X-ray optics professor Martin Richardson, the researchers are working with an extreme ultraviolet light source that shows promise in reproducing detailed circuitry images onto smaller chips.
? Perceptive Technologies, a client of the University of Central Florida Technology Incubator, has launched a web-based product that helps new home buyers work with designers. The company expects sales of SeeYourDecor.com to top $30 million.

PORT CANAVERAL
Port Canaveral has landed its first regularly scheduled cargo service to the Caribbean. Monthly, Korean-based Eukor Car Carriers will export cars manufactured by Jaguar, BMW and others from Canaveral to the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Guadeloupe and several other islands.
