Wafer World Inc. Acquires Micro Reclaim Technologies, Expanding Leadership in Semiconductor Wafer Reclaim and Polishing

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Wafer World Inc., a 30-year-old semiconductor wafer reclaim and polishing company headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida, has completed the acquisition of Micro Reclaim Technologies ("MRT"), a 10-year-old company based in Fort Lauderdale specializing in reclaim polishing of silicon carbide (SiC), gallium nitride (GaN), and sapphire wafers.

Following the acquisition, MRT's manufacturing operations have been integrated into Wafer World's manufacturing facility in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The acquisition significantly expands Wafer World's wafer reclaim and polishing expertise by adding silicon carbide (SiC), gallium nitride (GaN), and sapphire to the company's existing reclaim capabilities in gallium arsenide (GaAs), indium phosphide (InP), gallium phosphide (GaP), and indium arsenide (InAs). Wafer World also manufactures the world's flattest silicon (Si) and germanium (Ge) wafers for advanced sensor devices.

With expertise across these nine critical semiconductor materials, Wafer World Inc. is now uniquely positioned as the only company worldwide with reclaim and polishing capabilities spanning the semiconductor industry's most important substrate materials.

"I believe the MRT acquisition aligns with Wafer World's goal of becoming the best wafer company in the world and a sole-source provider for the world's leading aerospace, defense, automotive, biomedical, telecommunications, MEMS, chemical, and energy companies," said Sean Quinn, owner of Wafer World Inc.

Wafer World Inc. remains privately held by Sean Quinn.
