'Once Upon a Time in Space' series to tell Florida's space story

Coming as America celebrates its 250th birthday, as well as the 15th anniversary of the final NASA space shuttle flight, Florida’s historic space story is getting a spotlight in a new PBS documentary series. Starting July 14, WUCF will present Once Upon a Time in Space, a new four-part PBS documentary series that tells America’s space story through the voices of astronauts, people behind the missions, and their families. Fort Lauderdale backs $217 million plan for new City Hall over downtown tower renovations

Fort Lauderdale is forging ahead with its original plan to build a new City Hall, rejecting the idea of spending millions to renovate a downtown office tower built decades ago. Culinary Institute of America enters formal negotiations for downtown Jacksonville campus

Downtown Jacksonville is another step closer to being a hub for culinary education in the South. The Culinary Institute of America's Board of Trustees has agreed to enter formal negotiations with the City of Jacksonville regarding the proposed campus on Bay Street, at the former county courthouse site. Osceola Arts delays reopening, puts show at Dr. Phillips Center

Facing construction delays in its multimillion-dollar makeover, Osceola Arts will not start a fall theater season on its Kissimmee campus. But at least one show will go on: The community theater will temporarily visit Orlando to stage the musical “Urinetown” at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. Popular Sarasota grocery store announces biggest expansion yet

The popular family-owned grocery chain founded in Sarasota County is expanding again. Detwiler's Farm Market announced Monday that it plans to open its eighth — and largest — store in North Port, a move President Sam Detwiler said was driven by years of customer requests on social media.

Python curry? Florida says think twice before taking a bite

The Florida Department of Health has issued a "do not consume python" advisory due to unhealthy mercury levels. Despite the advisory, it is not illegal to eat python meat in Florida. Some chefs and hunters suggest marinades or cooking methods like curry to make the tough meat more palatable.
