AI ‘Bill of Rights’ emerges in the Florida Legislature
The bill comes as the governor has made AI policies — from cracking down on its growth to limiting access to certain AI chatbots to restricting growth of data centers — a priority for the coming 2026 legislative session. The legislation would ban government entities, beginning July 1, 2026, from entering into any contract with any entity providing AI unless the company signs an affidavit affirming it is not owned by a “foreign country of concern.” More from the Florida Phoenix and the News Service of Florida.

As a visit to Sarasota after becoming the new president and CEO of Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport came to an end, Paul Hoback and his wife, Amy, were at the gate awaiting a return flight to Pittsburgh. JEA faces protests while struggling to reach clean energy goal

JEA still is moving ahead with a separate agreement that will deliver electricity from construction of three new solar farms in Jacksonville by the end of 2026. Environmental groups argue JEA is not adding enough solar power to meet its goal of 35% clean energy by 2030. More from the Florida Times-Union.
