Florida Chamber Foundation announces Florida now ranks as the world’s 15th largest economy

The Florida Chamber Foundation announced Thursday that Florida, if it were a nation, would now rank as the 15th largest economy in the world, with a gross domestic product exceeding $1.7 trillion. The Florida Chamber Foundation has set a long-term goal of making Florida a top 10 global economy by 2030. Florida has surpassed Spain and stands just $25.5 billion behind Australia. More than 1 million Floridians could be priced out of health insurance

The open enrollment window to sign up for healthcare through the Affordable Care Act marketplace begins Saturday. In Florida, home to the greatest number of ACA recipients in the country, healthcare advocates are bracing for coverage costs to skyrocket. “What we’re seeing this year is the biggest single-year increase in a very long time, between 20 and 40% here in Florida specifically,” said Scott Darius, executive director of Florida Voices for Health. Norwegian Cruise Line ship set to reach Jacksonville on Oct.31 for launch of new service

Hurricane Melissa forced cruise lines to change itineraries for some voyages but it hasn't affected the expected arrival this week of a Norwegian Cruise Line vessel in Jacksonville for the long-awaited launch of its seasonal service. The Norwegian Gem is on track to arrive in Jacksonville on Oct. 31 when it will will be the second cruise line serving Jacksonville along with Carnival Cruise Line. Clocks fall back Sunday; Sunshine Protection Act bill still in limbo

 Floridians are preparing to turn back their clocks this weekend, but U.S. Sen. Rick Scott is advocating for the Sunshine Protection Act, which would allow states to decide whether to change their clocks twice a year.
