Adventist University of Health Sciences Board of Trustees' has announced that Dr. Edwin Hernández, ADU's current provost and an educator with over 30 years of experience, will succeed Dr. David Greenlaw, ADU's founding president, upon his retirement on July 31st, 2017. "Preparing healthcare professionals who are clinically outstanding, leadership-oriented, and mission-focused to serve the growing needs of Adventist Health System and Florida Hospital is our highest priority," Dr. Hernández said.

Saima Aftab, MD, FAAP, has joined Miami Children's Health System (MCHS) as Medical Director of the Fetal Care Center at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. Dr. Aftab also serves as PSA chief for the Section of Neonatology and Perinatal Medicine. She is board certified in general pediatrics, neonatology and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Pilot Bank COO Rita Lowman has assumed her role as Chairwoman of the Florida Bankers Association. Lowman will be the third woman to serve as chair in the organization's 130-year history. Beginning her banking career more than 40 years ago, Lowman has held statewide senior level positions at Bank of America, American Momentum Bank and C1 Bank prior to joining Pilot Bank.

Former Florida state Senator Lisa Carlton, J.D., has been elected to FCCI Insurance Group's board of directors, effective July 1. Carlton is the co-owner and manager of Mabry Carlton Ranch, Inc., and serves on the state Constitution Revision Commission. She was chosen for the FCCI Board based on her knowledge and experience in agribusiness, legislation and public service.

Southeastern Grocers today announced that Anthony Hucker, the Company’s Chief Operating Officer, will assume the responsibilities of President and Chief Executive Officer on an interim basis following the resignation of Ian McLeod to take up another opportunity. Mr. Hucker will assume his interim responsibilities effective July 1, 2017, and Mr. McLeod will remain in his current role through June 30, 2017 to assist with the transition.

Bank of America Miami Market President Gene Schaefer has been named Chairman of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, South Florida's largest business organization committed to improving the region's economic vitality. Schaefer is a 28-year banking veteran who serves on the Board of Enterprise Florida and is Past Chairman of the United Way of Miami-Dade.

L. Keith Todd has been named The University of Tampa's vice president for development and university relations. Todd will oversee philanthropic efforts that provide support for scholarships, endowment and institutional initiatives. UT President Ron Vaughn said Todd's "experience and ability to manage complex opportunities will help further build UT's fundraising efforts."

Director Matthew Bittel joined Cushman & Wakefield from Flagler. Matthew, a Miami native, has been active in South Florida's commercial real estate market for 12 years. With his partner, Stuart Gordon, Matthew has closed more than 27 million square feet of transactions valued at nearly $1.5 billion.

John Quelch of Harvard Business School (HBS) has been appointed dean of the University of Miami School of Business Administration and vice provost for executive education. Quelch will oversee customized training and development programs for executives and managers. “Dr. Quelch is a renowned scholar on globalization and a proven academic leader internationally. He is a great addition to our senior team and is poised to take the School of Business Administration to its next level of excellence.” said UM President Julio Frenk.

Dr. Tonjua Williams has been named President of St. Petersburg College. Williams, a St. Pete native and 30-year veteran of SPC, is the college's first woman and first African-American President. Williams, who has served as Sr. VP of Student Services since 2013, holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Admin., a master's in Counselor Education, and a bachelor's in Business Admin.

The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority has tapped former Carlton Fields attorney and public finance professional Amy Lettelleir as chief financial officer.
