Up Front: Gratitude and Recognition

The Publisher’s Column

As I sit here writing my column for our June issue of FLORIDA TREND, it’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through 2026. Like many of you, I find myself asking where has the time gone, and how do we slow it down?

At the same time, we are preparing to release our 2027 editorial calendar, outlining the topics and industries we’ll explore in the year ahead. It feels like only yesterday we were closing out 2025 and stepping into 2026 — and now, we’re already planning for the coming year.

In the midst of the constant business motion and occasional chaos of our work life, moments like this give me an opportunity to pause and reflect — particularly on how grateful I am for the team behind FLORIDA TREND. Their dedication and effort keep everything moving forward, ensuring we continue to deliver with consistency and purpose.

Collectively, our team represents more than 295 years of service to our organization, with an average tenure of 13 years. That kind of experience speaks volumes, not just about longevity, but about commitment, adaptability and pride in the work we do.

What truly sets this team apart is their willingness to embrace new challenges, adopt emerging technologies, identify evolving market trends, and never settle for the status quo. That mindset is the foundation of FLORIDA TREND’s continued success.

Whether someone has been with us for one year or four decades, the level of collaboration, engagement and shared ownership across our organization is something special. It’s reflected in the way our team approaches projects, generates fresh ideas and develops strategies that continue to strengthen and diversify our brand.

That same commitment to excellence was recently recognized on a broader stage. Our editorial and art teams earned top honors at the 2026 Azbee Awards of Excellence (Southeast Region), presented by the American Society of Business Publication Editors. FLORIDA TREND received five gold awards and one bronze, with the gold winners advancing to the national competition.

We are proud to recognize the individuals whose work was honored:

Amy Keller, Executive Editor

Mike Vogel, South Florida Editor

Michael Fechter, Associate Editor

Brittney J. Miller, Associate Editor

Gary Bernloehr, Art Director

Jason Morton, Associate Art Director

Congratulations to our editorial and art teams for this well-deserved recognition. Their achievements reflect not only individual excellence, but the collective strength and dedication of the entire FLORIDA TREND team.

I am incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together and of the responsibility we carry in serving as Florida’s Business Authority.
