UWF launches an Executive MBA program specifically designed to teach leaders.

At the University of West Florida, the Lewis Bear Jr. College of Business is expanding its MBA portfolio to meet the needs of experienced professionals and an evolving workforce.

Central to that evolution is the new Executive MBA: Leadership Practice and Purpose program. "The EMBA was introduced to better serve professionals looking for an advanced, leadership-focused graduate experience," says Mikayla Yates, a senior communications manager at UWF. "Unlike a traditional MBA, the program emphasizes applied leadership, strategic decision-making and purpose-driven practice." Delivered in collaboration with UWF's Aylstock, Witkin, Kreis & Overholtz Center for Leadership, it pairs executive training with a cohort model intended to prepare graduates for senior-level roles.

Demand across UWF's MBA areas of emphasis continues to track workforce needs. "Business analytics and finance remain the strongest draws," Yates notes, reflecting demand for data-savvy leaders. To stay ahead of market shifts, UWF will launch a new brand marketing and analytics emphasis in fall 2026, aimed at students interested in brand strategy, consumer insights and digital marketing.

UWF has also doubled down on academic rigor and connectivity for online learners. Online MBA and EMBA students are taught by the same faculty as on-campus cohorts and are held to identical learning outcomes and assessment standards. "Our programs are designed for working professionals," Yates says, "with structured weekly engagement, applied projects, cohort-based courses and intentional networking opportunities that mirror the on-campus experience."

Recent research investments further strengthen the program's relevance. A $32.5-million Triumph Gulf Coast grant is expanding UWF's cybersecurity and computational intelligence capabilities, creating new intersections with MBA coursework in business analytics and cybersecurity management.
