Related Ross Appoints Eric Silagy as Vice Chairman to Advance Transformation of South Florida

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – May 21, 2025 – Related Ross today announced the appointment of Eric Silagy as Vice Chairman, a role focused on advancing the firm’s strategic vision to establish West Palm Beach and South Florida as a national center for innovation, business, and cultural vitality. In this position, Mr. Silagy will serve as a key driver of public-private partnerships, economic development, and pioneering investment initiatives.

With South Florida entering a pivotal phase of urban and economic growth, Related Ross is deepening its commitment to shaping not just city skylines, but the region’s and the state’s foundational civic infrastructure. The firm’s plan—a nearly $10 billion investment in offices, residences, retail, hospitality, golf clubs, healthcare, and education—aims to transform South Florida into a magnet for enterprise and top-tier talent, on par with the country’s foremost business hubs.

“The scale of transformation underway in West Palm Beach and South Florida demands leaders fluent in both the public and private spheres—individuals who can broker catalytic deals and build genuine trust across diverse communities,” said Stephen M. Ross, Founder, CEO, and Chairman of Related Ross, “Eric has demonstrated throughout his career an ability to unite business, government, and civic interests to deliver on ambitious goals. Bringing him on board underscores our intent to move boldly and collaboratively as we shape the next chapter of Florida.”

Mr. Silagy joins Related Ross after a two-decade tenure at Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), where he served as Chairman, President, and CEO. Under his leadership, FPL invested over $60 billion in Florida’s infrastructure, built the nation’s largest portfolio of utility-owned solar plants, and helped transform Florida’s energy system into the largest and most reliable in the country. Mr. Silagy guided the company through the successful acquisition and integration of Gulf Power and spearheaded initiatives recognized for expanding education pipelines and strengthening local communities. He has also held key board positions with the Florida Chamber of Commerce (Chair, 2013–2014), Florida Council of 100 (Chair and Foundation Chair), and was appointed by the Governor to the State University System Board of Governors—where he oversaw a $4.5 billion university system budget.

A seasoned leader at the intersection of business and government, Mr. Silagy’s work has been characterized by aligning stakeholders around complex, high-stakes initiatives. From leading major storm response operations across Florida to championing the undergrounding of power lines, his approach combines collaborative excellence with a long-term vision for smart, sustainable growth.

“I moved to Florida over 20 years ago and have come to care deeply about this state,” Mr. Silagy said. “Joining Related Ross is a chance to help Florida ‘set the table’ for a new generation—creating a city and region where the next chapter is defined not by inherited challenges, but by thoughtful, inclusive progress. What excites me most is being part of an organization that’s fully invested in the long-term future of our communities, not just the next project.”

As Vice Chairman, Mr. Silagy will lead efforts to recruit new companies, deepen relationships with regional and national business leaders, and engage with elected officials to advocate for policies that support enterprise and innovation. He will serve as a strategic partner to support economic development in the region, help direct fundraising for community anchor projects (including partnerships with institutions like Vanderbilt University and the Cleveland Clinic), and advance infrastructure improvements throughout the state critical to keeping pace with population and business growth. Mr. Silagy will also play a prominent role representing Related Ross on civic panels, industry forums, and in the broader community.

Related Ross’ vision for South Florida is built on the belief that economic vibrancy grows from robust education and healthcare, strong business and political alliances, and a commitment to inclusive opportunity for all. Mr. Silagy’s appointment positions the firm to accelerate large-scale real estate and community partnerships, helping attract new corporate anchors, foster next-generation talent, and deliver on the promise of a world-class city, region and state.
