Billionaires residing in Florida made up 25 — or 6.25%— of the new Forbes 400 list of richest Americans. Here's a look at a few of the Sunshine State's ultrawealthy:
No. 32 John Kluge, 94, Metromedia, Palm Beach. Net worth: $9-billion. The richest guy in Florida is best known lately for his Metromedia restaurant group's decision to abruptly close its Bennigan's casual dining chain this year. Kluge's wealth dropped by $500-million from 2007. No. 68 Micky Arison, 59, Carnival Cruises, Bal Harbour. Net worth: $5-billion. The cruise industry hit choppy waters for captain of world's largest cruise ship operator: Carnival stock down 13 percent since last fall from rising fuel costs.
