    Sanford is suing General Dynamics and Siemens to force the industrial giants to remove toxic 1,4-dioxane from city drinking water.

    Those companies have seven times as many workers as the city has residents and enormously larger revenues. The case may suggest David taking on Goliaths, but not to Sanford’s mayor and lawyer.

    They contend they possess legal slings and arrows that are capable of vanquishing their foes, and have an overdue imperative to wield them.

    “We are on the side of right,” Mayor Art Woodruff said.
