Florida SAT scores fall in 2024, continuing ‘COVID slide,’ experts say
Florida’s SAT scores fell again this year, continuing a downward trend that experts fear stems from the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on state students. The state’s average SAT score dropped to 948 out of 1600, an 18-point decline from 2023, according to recently released data from the College Board, makers of the SAT. Hurricane center ups odds Caribbean system will form
The National Hurricane Center on Monday increased its forecast odds a Caribbean system will develop into the season’s next tropical depression or storm. So far, the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season has had 17 named storms, 11 of which have developed into hurricanes, and five of those have been major hurricanes of Category 3 strength or more. Pinellas County seeks $79M federal grant to replace Dunedin Causeway bridge
Pinellas County is seeking a $79 million grant through the Federal Highway Administration for the replacement of the Dunedin Causeway Main Bridge. County commissioners voted unanimously to authorize staff Oct. 29 to seek the grant for the project, which has been discussed often by government officials, stakeholders and users in recent years. Tech firm opens Miami headquarters
Copenhagen-based tech firm Monta opened a new North America headquarters in Miami's Wynwood Arts District. Miami’s “vibrant ecosystem for technology and innovation” was the reason the city was chosen as Monta’s North American headquarters. SpaceX aims for double Space Coast launch within 4 hours today
SpaceX has a pair of launches on tap Monday from its two launch pads on the Space Coast that could lift off within four hours of one anothter. First up is a Falcon 9 on the Koreasat-6A from Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Pad 39-A targeting a window that runs from 12:07-4:07 p.m. and backup opportunities from 12:06-4:06 p.m. Tuesday.
