President Hanbury and I are pleased to announce we have named Dr. Chad Perlyn, M.D., Ph.D., MBA, the senior vice president of surgical services, community health, and corporate responsibility at Nicklaus Children's Health System, as executive vice president and chief medical officer at Nova Southeastern University and executive medical director of NSU Health, effective December 1, 2024.
Dr. Perlyn also will be a professor of health care sciences at the Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences.
In this new role of executive vice president and chief medical officer for NSU’s seven health care-related colleges and executive medical director for NSU Health, Dr. Perlyn will be the senior leader of all medical and clinical aspects and functions of the university and its health care enterprise. He will coordinate and collaborate with the various academic health care disciplines to advance our mission to integrate education, research, and patient care for better patient care as well as to foster research breakthroughs and enrich the health care workforce with qualified and caring leaders, providers, and professionals.
Dr. Perlyn has played a pivotal role at Nicklaus Children's, as a nationally recognized health care executive and a pediatric plastic surgeon. Over his 15-year leadership tenure at Nicklaus Children's, he has held many roles and shaped many key programs across the Nicklaus Children's Health System, including serving as president of Nicklaus Children's Pediatric Specialists, managing the development and operations of the Nicklaus Children's ambulatory surgery center, and overseeing the opening of the Kenneth C. Griffin Surgical Tower.
His medical and professional experience, combined with his academic and research background from the University of Oxford, University of Miami, and Washington and Northwestern universities, enables him to lead and contribute across all aspects of the NSU and NSU Health enterprise.
His appointment reflects the rising stature of NSU to attract top-notch talent from world-class hospitals and universities.
