Recognizing Florida Trend

    It has been another impressive year of awards and recognition for FLORIDA TREND'S editorial department. Recently, at the Alliance of Area Business Publishers (AABP) annual awards event, FLORIDA TREND was recognized for its strong business reporting, editorial features and engaging artistic design and layout.

    South Florida Editor Mike Vogel won honors for his story about how utilities are reshaping Florida’s rural landscape in their rush to expand solar energy [“Sowing Solar,” Sept. 2023] and his profile of Miami Dade College President Madeline Pumariega [“Full Circle,” Nov. 2023]. These awards followed American Society of Business Publication Editors’ Azbee honors that Mike received earlier this year for his profile of Cathie Wood [“The Futurist,” March 2023], his overall sustainability reporting, and again, his “Sowing Solar” feature. We are so proud of Mike’s well-deserved recognition for editorial excellence.

    Additionally, our incredibly talented art department earned recognition at AABP’s annual awards event, bringing home honors in several categories, including “Best Feature Layout,” “Best Use of Photography/ Illustrations” and “Best Overall Design.” The judges complimented the department’s work — commenting on “page designs that are consistently great from the colorful photography to the creative page compositions, to the smallest of graphic elements that bring visual joy to the design” and that “from features to trend lines … are thoughtful and well-executed.”

    We know all too well how talented and creative our art department team is at FLORIDA TREND, so it is especially meaningful when it’s recognized and honored by third-party validators within the publishing industry.

    FLORIDA TREND was also recognized and took home honors in the “Best Magazine” category at AABP’s annual awards ceremony. The judges stated that FLORIDA TREND is a “nicely balanced publication with a comfortable, accessible look and an engaging voice,” noting that “every issue is a deep well of information that demonstrates smart use of the resources.”

    This validation of FLORIDA TREND rings strong across our entire team. Our staff, across all departments, puts in tireless hours to ensure that the end product delivered is nothing short of excellent. Our goal and mission to be Florida’s Business Authority is not one that we take lightly. Our promise to our subscribers and readers across all mediums — print, digital, video, face-to-face and throughout our social media channels — is to deliver strong, engaging, well-sourced and investigated articles, features and noteworthy sections that help inform, educate and provide a knowledge base of the most important business-related news and issues happening across our state.
