"Drumming makes me excited."
Life for his family may never be the same after 5-year-old Chrisyius Whitehead wowed celebrity judges and the crowd nearly three weeks ago when the drumming sensation appeared on "America's Got Talent."
In Sopchoppy, their hometown of less than 500 residents, people recognize his sweet, round face. A routine grocery store run is now met with adoring fans and residents who offer hugs and congratulations to Chrisyius.
They're simply stunned such a young child could belt out a drum solo that even made judge Simon Cowell, known for his acerbic criticisms, gush and praise the boy for his masterful performance.
"He just knew that he was doing something that he loves to do, which is playing the drums," said Dawandrea Whitehead, Chrisyius's mother. She was elated to see her son shine on "such a huge stage in front of so many people on one of the biggest shows on TV."
