Founders Glenn and Chelly Snow’s LactaLogics processes breast milk from donor moms for use in feeding premature babies. The company is locating its headquarters and a processing facility in Port St. Lucie in the former Liberty Medical building on U.S. 1. “The goal is to make more human milk available to hospital NICUs (neonatal intensive care units) and parents across the country,” Chelly Snow says. “Families will finally have better access to human milk-based products, helping to improve the health of newborns while supporting moms who struggle with breastfeeding.” The company has filed for multiple patents. It plans to hire 60 making just over the county’s average wage.

REAL ESTATE

• Denver-based Aimco proposes a multi-tower apartment and hotel project, along with retail and parking, for a site now occupied by a Bokamper’s Sports Bar & Grill off Oakland Park Boulevard on the Intracoastal in Fort Lauderdale. Publix Super Markets sold for $8 million a vacant lot in Coral Springs at University Drive and Sample Road, which formerly housed one of its stores, to a joint venture of Miami-based 13th Floor Investments and Key International. The venture plans a 377-unit, eight-story apartment tower with retail and a parking garage.
• In its second Boca Raton acquisition this year, the Keyes Co. acquired Boca Realty, a firm with 100 agents specializing in luxury and waterfront homes, and multifamily and commercial property investments.
• A joint venture of Miami’s Related Group and BH Group paid $47.5 million to New York-based Chetrit Group for a waterfront, North Ocean Boulevard site in Pompano Beach. Palm Beach County commissioners approved a plan to convert Palm Beach International Raceway, the former Moroso Motorsports Park, into 2 million square feet of warehouses.
• Miami developer Jimmy Tate and his partners received Fort Lauderdale city commissioners’ approval to redevelop the Bahia Mar site on the beach with a scaleddown plan of four, 21-story condo towers totaling 350 units, a 23-story, 256-room hotel with 60 condo apartments, restaurants, bars and a park on the Intracoastal along with a waterfront promenade.

HEALTHCARE

• Enhance Health, a company that links customers to health care plans, intends to hire more than 800 workers at its Sunrise corporate office and a Coral Springs service center, according to the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance. Bain Capital is a financial backer.
• Medical device company Terumo Aortic will hire 50 as it expands its Sunrise site.

TECHNOLOGY

• Levatas, an artificial intelligence software company targeting automation in the industrial inspection sector, withdrew from a job-creation incentive deal with Palm Beach County and West Palm Beach. It had agreed to create 50 jobs along with a $1.25-million capital investment in return for county, city and state incentives. The company said the pandemic and related business adjustments no longer necessitated that many jobs.
