Here’s a look at Florida’s new immigration law that takes effect in two weeks

Gov. DeSantis signed a legislative package on immigration that will begin to take effect on July 1st. The legislation, SB1718 targets undocumented immigrants in the state, and is meant to discourage immigration into Florida. Here is a summary of what the law does and how it might affect the state's economy. More from the Miami Herald.

Tropical depression expected to form today as 2nd system strengthens, hurricane center says

The National Hurricane Center has given a system headed to the Caribbean a 100% of forming into tropical depression or storm with advisories expected later today. In its 8 a.m. tropical outlook, the NHC said satellite imagery shows the area of low pressure halfway between Africa and the Lesser Anilles has become more organized since Sunday. “If current trends continue, advisories could be initiated on a tropical depression later today,” the NHC stated. SpaceX knocks out 30th Space Coast launch of the year

SpaceX has now flown 29 of the 30 launches so far this year from the Space Coast, with the only other coming from Relativity Space and its launch of the 3D-printed Terran 1 back in March. It’s the 240th orbital launch for the company since 2008 and 128th from Cape Canaveral. SpaceX has had 40 launches so far this year including California liftoffs. SBA names weVENTURE program at Florida Tech as regional Women's Business Center of the Year

The weVENTURE Women’s Business Center recently was recognized as the 2023 South Florida District Women’s Business Center of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration as part of the agency’s Small Business Week awards. Jacksonville awarded $1.088 million in state funding to support Military investment

The City of Jacksonville’s Military Affairs and Veterans Department announced that it had received a substantial boost in funding to support military investment in the region.
