› Golf Digest's Top 100 golf courses in America includes a Northeast Florida favorite
For more than 40 years, TPC Sawgrass has hosted The Players Championship on its Players Stadium Course, making it one of the most recognizable golf courses in the world. Designed by architect Pete Dye and billed as his crowning achievement, the public course is home to the iconic – and infamous – Island Green at the par-3 17th hole.
› Titusville continues fight to overturn Right to Clean Water charter amendment
The fight between a group of Titusville activists and city government over the right to clean water continues, even after a judge this past week sided with voters who overwhelmingly approved the clean water referendum. The city of Titusville has now filed a motion seeking a re-hearing on the issue, in hopes of overturning the referendum that passed last fall guaranteeing residents a "right to clean water" and legal recourse against the government if that right is not upheld.
› Avelo Airlines to get big incentives at PBI for new service to Wilmington, Raleigh-Durham
Palm Beach County has agreed to reduce airport fees for Avelo Airlines' flights from Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) to Wilmington, Delaware (ILG) and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina (RDU) for the next two years. The agreement is part of an incentive program to entice airlines to offer new service at PBI. In the case of Avelo, it sought the incentives to expand its PBI footprint to the two new airports.
› Former North Central Florida YMCA CEO files defamation suit after being cleared of fraud
The former CEO of the North Central Florida YMCA in Gainesville has filed a defamation lawsuit against the organization after being cleared of accusations of grand theft and fraud. John Bonacci, who was suspected of embezzlement by the local YMCA’s board of directors when he was terminated in September 2017, had all charges against him dismissed by the State Attorney's Office in December 2022.
