Success Breeds Success

David Denor | 6/1/2023

I have had the pleasure of working with Managing Editor John Annunziata for nearly eight years. John is one of those unique individuals who lights up a room every time he enters. His talent is beyond compare, and I have always been impressed by his ability to work with any and all personalities. His positive, inquisitive and jovial nature puts visitors, co-workers and freelancers at ease.

John is a great editor, but his talent goes much deeper than editing the written word; he has an uncanny ability to visualize how a feature should be presented in an issue. A story isn’t always told best through a straight prose format. Sometimes it calls for a heavy graphics display or a photo essay layout. John knows exactly when to use each to enhance the storytelling. His fingerprints are throughout every issue we put together, from content editing to grammar to the final story display.

For the past 23 years, John has made sure that each issue gets out on time and as close to perfect as possible.

I’m sorry to say that John will retire from FLORIDA TREND at the end of June. Everyone at the magazine is excited for John and his wife, Wendy. We wish them all the best as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. Speaking on behalf of all at FLORIDA TREND, I can say that we are going to greatly miss the energy, enthusiasm, intelligence and humor that John brought to work each day. Thank you, John, for making our days brighter.

While I am sad to see John go, I am also pleased to share that FLORIDA TREND Associate Editor Amy Keller has been promoted to managing editor starting in July.

Many of you know Amy’s name quite well, as she has been with the magazine for about 13 years, producing many award-winning features. I could not think of a more qualified and deserving candidate to fill this important role. John is one of Amy’s biggest fans and was thrilled to hear that she had been selected to succeed him. He and Amy have been working together over the past couple of months to ensure a smooth transition. With her incredible talent, dedication, work ethic and positivity, Amy will slip right into John’s shoes.

FLORIDA TREND is honored to have Amy become a critical member of our management team.

The fact that we were able to promote from within speaks to the importance of recruiting and retaining valued employees. Our companies are built, managed and maintained by the employees who surround us. Providing them with a positive work environment and career growth opportunities adds to their loyalty and commitment.
