› A new Tampa Central YMCA is part of a $600 million Tampa Heights development
The Central City YMCA in Tampa is about to become part of the latest big development project in Tampa Heights. The "Y" is partnering with a private company in this $600 million dollar deal. The current Central YMCA on Palm Avenue will be replaced by a seven-story building across North Florida Avenue. It will be double the size of the current facility. A sky bridge will connect it to the Tampa Metropolitian Area "Y's" corporate headquaters and parking.

The fire that shut down Miami-Dade County’s incinerator plant four months ago also sparked an uncomfortable question for elected leaders: whether to build a new one someplace else. Long a source of friction from neighbors who complain of garbage smells in their backyards, the Doral facility shut down in February after a fire destroyed the equipment needed to incinerate about 1 million tons of household trash a year.

The beachside Brevard County town's new restrictions come after golf cart laws became more strict this past month, with the Florida's legislature passing laws requiring age minimums for operating golf carts. Cape Canaveral's efforts go further than the state laws, which set the minimum standards.

Population growth in Jacksonville has made the expansion of housing options a necessity, and some of the properties most likely to be converted for this purpose seem to be ones that were once well-known landmarks in the community.
